Сегодня Business English Academy хотела бы начать новую рубрику #SOS_Language. Что мы будем в ней освещать: самые необходимые фразы, слова, с которыми вы сталкиваетесь при первом соприкосновении с иностранной культурой.
Первой вашей заявкой была тема «банкомата» и всех сопричастных слов, которые мы часто используем выполняя какую-либо денежную операцию. Вроде бы, все ясно-понятно, но когда доходит дело до трудностей, даже у заядлых туристов не хватает словарного запаса объяснить, что к чему.
Разберемся со всем по порядку:
ATM stands for Automatic Teller Machine. Other common names include:
- cash machine
- cash point
- bank machine
Look at the different parts (labeled A to F) and match with the vocabulary below.
A) Screen — Follow the instructions on the screen
B) Receipts Slot — Your receipt will come out of this slot
C) Card Slot — Insert (put in) and take out your card here
D) Cash Slot — Your cash will come out of here
E) Button Pad — Type in your PIN Code here (PIN = Personal Identification Number)
F) Screen Select Buttons — These buttons correspond to information on the screen, usually amounts of money
1 Insert bank card into card slot
2 Type in your PIN, taking care to make sure no-one is watching, use your other hand to shield your PIN
3 Follow instructions on the screen and select the amount of money you would like
4 Remove bank card from card slot
5 Remove money from cash slot
6 Remove receipt from receipt slot
A) Bank Name
B) Chip — Microchip for extra security
C) Card number — usually a 16-digit number
D) Dates showing when the card is valid (okay to use) from and to
E) The name of the card holder
F) Sort Code — a code used by banks
G) Account Number
H) Name of card company — e.g. visa, maestro, mastercard, electron etc.
